12seconds for Peace - Summer Slaughter!

12seconds for Peace is gearing up for a rip-roaring, head-banging, rock-frenzy of peace this weekend thanks to Murdock's Trinity Records and Promotions who are staging their Summer Slaughter show at the 910 Live Club, Continental Tempe, Arizona, USA, in aid of 12seconds for Peace! Watch the live feed here! The show goes on from 6pm to 2am Arizona time on Saturday 26th June, so don't miss it! If you do miss it, then you can still catch up with the recorded video of the performance that will replace the live feed here after the event.

Murdock's Trinity Records & Promotions are staunch supporters of 12seconds for Peace and will be encouraging fans to record their own 12seconds for Peace videos during and after the event, so once we have checked these, watch for them here in the coming days.

Peace in Our Lifetime has been active in the push for peace in the world for a number of years and has steadily been building a huge support base from across the globe. 12seconds for Peace is very happy to be aligned with their efforts to build a more just and equitable world for all and to promote their Peace in Our Lifetime certificates which you can find in the sidebar of this blog. The latest contribution to the 12seconds for Peace phenomenon is from a very good friend and supporter of the project; Marcia Johnson who is the creator of 'The Eaupening'.

12seconds for Peace - Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein; possibly one of the leading intellectuals of the twentieth century and the father of modern physics, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921 to acknowledge his work in the area of Theoretical Physics and for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect.

Less well known however, and certainly less acknowledged by the general public was his passionate advocacy of the philosophy of pacifism and his efforts to curb the world's perceived head-long rush into nuclear annhilation. Although a supporter of the war against the Nazis, Einstein campaigned tirelessly for an end to the hatred and nationalism that promoted war.

"My pacifism is an instinctive feeling, a feeling that possesses me because the murder of men is abhorrent. My attitude is not derived from intellectual theory but is based on my deepest antipathy to every kind of cruelty and hatred."

In 1979, to mark the 100th anniversary of Einstein's birth, the Albert Einstein Peace Prize Foundation was established, with it's first award being given to the Swedish sociologist Alva Myrdal in 1980 (Myrdal went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize two years later).

No series of videos on the greats in the peace movement would be complete without the inclusion of John Lennon. Possibly one of the most influential musicians of the latter part of the twentieth century, the former Beatle was a passionate advocate and campaigner for peace - a theme that came to dominate much of his life and to an extent his music.
