About 12seconds for Peace

'12seconds for Peace' is a collaborative video-arts project, designed to raise the energy of manifestation for peace on our planet and in our individual hearts and minds. When humanity manifests internal peace and recognises the natural order of the human condition, then peace in the world will follow. The proceeds from 12seconds for Peace will go to support and aid the various good causes of a number of charitable and non-profit organisations around the world.

You can find out more about the 12seconds for Peace project by clicking the link here

12seconds for Peace - Kelly Anne Tearney - 2

12seconds for Peace has just received another two contributions from Kelly Anne Tearney, completing her trilogy of peace videos that she started a couple of months ago with her lovely 'peace art' work from 22nd February. Her final video will be uploaded and featured here very shortly. For now, here is Kelly's beautiful exhortation to disallowing the concept of the enemy by staying focused on our shared humanity.

You can find more of Kelly's work and her free peace art site here.

12seconds for Peace - Donata Kalinauskaite - 2

This breath-taking new video from Donata Kalinauskaite captures beautifully the essence of AJ Muste's profound truism that peace is not a destination but a way of travelling.

Visually and musically stunnning, Donata's work here in bringing to life one of the most oft-quoted statements in the peace movement should be taken note of. We are never going to arrive at peace because peace is something that we should be carrying along the road with us at all times. Again, we find once more that peace is firstly an internal and personal process and only then does it externalise and manifest in the outer world.

Many thanks for your wonderful contribution once more Donata!

12seconds for Peace - Liane Legey - 3

Another wonderful video from Liane Legey - completing her peace trilogy for 12seconds for Peace!

I think we shall see more of Liane's work in the 12 seconds format for Humanity Healing International in the not too distant future. As others have found, once you realise how easy it is and how versatile the 12 second format can be, there is a tendency to keep on going and making more and more mini peace videos! Put them all together, and the result is truly beautiful!

The first ten minutes of 12seconds for Peace is now almost complete. Once done, this will be uploaded to our YouTube channel and released here. It is a truly extraordinary work - bringing together the voices and intent of people from all around the globe; focused on the manifestation of peace.

Please keep the videos coming in. This project has no end and the collection of videos, to be handed over to a leading contemporary artist from which a new video art-work will be made, needs to grow further.

12seconds for Peace - Abdullah Turan Özşahin

12seconds for Peace is very happy to have just received it's first contribution from Turkey. This wonderful little video was made by Abdullah Turan Özşahin from Istanbul. As with so many of the 12seconds for Peace contributions, the message here is simple, straightforward and obvious: to be grateful for what we have.

The attitude of gratitude is so fundamental to living a happy and peaceful life. As individuals, once we can start to be grateful for the blessings that we have in our lives, then the state of peace will automatically follow. Once we can collectively express gratitude, then we start to solve the problems that the world faces too. Peace can come from simply being grateful and living in the attitude of gratitude on a daily basis: individually and collectively.

12seconds for Peace - Chris Buck - 2

Something of a more serious note from Chris Buck in the second of his contributions to 12seconds for Peace. This time reflecting on the consequences of not moving in the direction of peace.

As the president of Humanity Healing International, Chris is personally all too aware of the terrible price that we collectively pay over and over again from not embracing peace. His recent trip to Uganda to establish and work on a project there to aid the victims of war highlighted the terrors and horrors that are inflicted on humanity, by humanity on a daily basis. We are all responsible for the state of the world as it is today; we can all change the state of the world as it is today.

If you would like to know more of the work of Humanity Healing on the ground in Uganda, and the details of Chris' recent trip, you can find it here.

12seconds for Peace - Donata Kalinauskaite

A beautiful and heartfelt video this time from Donata Kalinauskaite, and one with a very important message: Whatever we put out into the world, is what we shall receive back. If we can be peaceful within ourselves and start each day with a peaceful outlook, then happiness and peace will automatically follow. This surely is where peace for all has to begin. Wisdom indeed.

Donata has been a long time supporter of this project and has offered much moral support and advice. In this video she has used a music clip from a friend Paul Collier, and although if is difficult to get a flavour of his beautiful work from this video, you can find more of his work here. A musician that it is well worth checking out for the healing and compassion that he brings into the world.

12seconds for Peace - Liane Legey - 2

12seconds for Peace is overjoyed to receive this wonderful new video from Liane Legey! The final frontier...to boldy go where no man has gone before: peace! If you are a member of Humanity Healing International and wondered why so many of their videos have subtle Star Trek overtones, then finally, all is revealed...! We can now confidently prove that Liane is the mastermind behind it. In her solo work here, she holds back nothing in her parodying of the adventures of the Starship Enterprise. Warp Factor 9 Liane...

12seconds for Peace - Eleanor Roosevelt

Another video in our 'Leaders & Teachers for Peace' series, submitted by Litana Somoano. This time from the former American First Lady; Eleanor Roosevelt.

Wife of president Franklin D Roosevelt and a civil rights advocate, Eleanor was very much involved in the formation of the United Nations. Appointed by Harry S Truman as a delegate to the UN General Assembly from 1945 to 1952, she chaired the committee that drafted and approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In tribute to her achievements on the world stage in the field of human rights, Truman called her 'the First Lady of the World'.

12seconds for Peace - Martin Luther King, Jr

12seconds for Peace is bringing you another video in the series 'Leaders & Teachers for Peace'. This time from the American civil rights campaigner; Martin Luther King, Jr.

With his famous 'I have a dream' speech, delivered in Washington in 1963, King established himself as one of the USA's greatest orators and raised the nations awareness of the civil rights movement. In 1964, through his efforts to bring about the end of racial segregation and discrimination by non-violent means, he became the youngest person ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. King is not only an American icon, but an example to us all of what Gandhi asked of us: "to be the change that we want to see in the world".

12seconds for Peace - Sylvie Durette - 2

It is a heart-warming and special moment to be able to post this new video from Sylvie Durette. Sylvie has made a short tribute video for her friend Mikko Aspegren who passed away recently. It is with great pleasure that 12seconds for Peace is able to host this particular video in the name of peace and as a permanent tribute to someone dedicated to the cause of peace.

If anyone else would like to use 12seconds for Peace in this way - as long as the video is a dedicated to the cause of peace, then please feel free to do so. This project is very happy to remember those that have dedicated themselves to this noble endeavour.

12seconds for Peace - Humanity Healing - 2

Another superb video from Humanity Healing - again on the puzzle theme. Humanity Healing has gone from strength to strength over the last two or three years and is fast becoming a huge global phenomenon as it brings together people with various passions and interests under the umbrella of what can broadly be called 'spiritual activism'. This is an approach that stems from a heart of compassion and a mind of wisdom but is fundamentally geared towards taking physical action in the world to alleviate the suffering of others.

You can find out more about the work of Humanity Healing by clicking the link here or in the sidebar of this blog.

12seconds for Peace - Liane Legey

Liane Legey is one of the co-founders, along with Chris Buck, of Humanity Healing International, and a keen supporter of this project. Liane has been the mainstay behind almost all of the widely acclaimed Humanity Healing videos that have appeared over the last 3 or 4 years and is thus something of an expert when it comes to making spiritually motivated or peace orientated videos. It is with great pleasure then that we are able to bring to you a truly amazing little video from Liane for 12seconds for Peace.

12seconds for Peace - Ahmad Al Najjar

The Boy Scout movement: from it's beginnings on 1907 on Browsea Island in England where it was lead by founder, Lieutenant General  Robert Baden-Powell, has spread around the globe and now has almost 30 million members. 12seconds for Peace is very happy to see, as represented here by one Scout Troop in Palestine, the Scout Movement's commitment to the cause of peace. We would like to extend our thanks to Ahmad Al Najjar for making this clip of the boys under his command, singing for peace.

12seconds for Peace - Chris Buck

Something of a light-hearted approach to peace this time from Humanity Healing president; Chris Buck. Chris reminds us here of the need to perhaps take life a little less seriously. Laughter and humour are an outward expression of an inner state of peace and contentment. When we can bring humour to the deep desire for peace in the world, we see the world in a different way. Seeing the world in a different way, is a primary step if we are ever to achieve lasting peace for all.

When we can laugh together, we can love together. Then we can have peace.

12seconds for Peace - Humanity Healing

Right from the start, 12seconds for Peace was designed to be a promotional and fund raising vehicle for various good causes. It's conception and birth was fundamentally linked to the destiny and success of Humanity Healing (now Humanity Healing International) as I was personally very much involved in it's construction, development and promotion in the early days of its existence (when it was no more than a glimmer on the outer reaches of MySpace). It made sense to me to use the concept and vehicle of 12seconds for Peace to support and highlight (and hopefully raise funds for) an organisation that I had been so very much involved in and which was so close to my heart.

Whilst I am less involved than I once was in the day to day business of Humanity Healing, preferring to work much more as a 'loose canon' on the fringes of the organisation, it is still a huge pleasure to receive an official contribution to 12seconds for Peace from Humanity Healing.

12seconds for Peace is growing and spreading outwards. In conjunction with Humanity Healing, it is negotiating with other non-profit and charitable organisations to support, highlight and raise funds for their work. Details will be posted here as they become available. In the meantime, check out the latest issue of Humanity Healing's 'Om-Times' magazine where a selection of 12seconds for Peace videos has been featured. Click the link here.

12seconds for Peace - Leo Tolstoy

12seconds for Peace is happy to present another video in the series 'Teachers & Leaders for Peace'. This time including the wisdom of Russian writer Leo Tolstoy.

Tolstoy, famous for his novels 'War and Peace' and 'Anna Karenina' was, towards the latter part of his life, a fervent pacifist and Christian anarchist. Both Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr were influenced by his ideas of nonviolent resistance as expressed through his work 'The Kingdom of God is Within You'.

We can all make a difference in the world. Peace should not be a dream; it should be a goal. Help manifest it by contributing to 12seconds for Peace in support of the work of Humanity Healing with the war victims of Uganda.

12seconds for Peace - Widyan Shaat - 2

12seconds for Peace is very pleased to have received a second video contribution from Widyan Shaat and one that shows her deep spiritual commitment to the cause of peace in the world. Whatever your religious beliefs, at the core of all is the injunction that we should develop ourselves to become an expression of peace, and thus we can bring peace to the world around us.

Widyan has been doing a huge amount of work to promote 12seconds for Peace in Palestine and for that we are truly grateful. Why not join her and get others in your country to contribute to this important work: an expression of humanities global desire for peace.

12seconds for Peace - Andie Vargas-Sattler - 2

A beautifully made video from Andie Vargas-Sattler this time; projecting ahead in a flight of fantasy to the state of the world if we continue on a track that keeps peace in the realm of dreams. The question is: should we consign Andie's video to the realms of eternal make-believe, or our collective desire for peace? We have the choice.

Below the video we are giving Andie's creative inclinations full-reign and letting her follow through with a dire warning of how things might yet be, if we let them.

Imagine a time-frame, perhaps many years into the future, after perpetual wars have been fought, to no avail.  Infrastructure is no longer uniformly in place and communication is an infrequent entity amongst people.  Supplies and food sources are low, and suffering is prevalent.  This video is presented as a creative statement and response to that condition for the 12 Seconds for Peace endeavor.  A fictitious, clandestine bootleg-video press-release, a plea for peace, was created to look rugged and textured, as if compiled with rudimentary materials, not readily market-available for those that can access the message in high conflict, war-torn areas.  The message is self-sustaining, imploring for an awakening to all mankind, knowing the answer lies within as an internal decision, with a decided action that can take place in a matter of moments.

Seconds indeed can change a world, if our internal world is changed first, via a powerful decision to replace the love of power with the power of love.

12seconds for Peace - Mohandas Gandhi

Through the centuries, great men and women have come along to teach us something of peace. That we have not listened, takes nothing away from the profound wisdom of their words.

12seconds for Peace shall, from time to time, be presenting videos that highlight some of their most important messages on the theme of peace. Our first in the series; which we shall call 'Leaders and Teachers for Peace' is from Mohandas Gandhi.

If you would like to contribute to this series of videos, then please do. There are many profound and important teachings on peace from the annals of history that are worthy of inclusion within the 12seconds for Peace project.

12seconds for Peace - Reiki for Peace

Reiki being sent to the cause of peace is a powerful way of promoting it in the world and establishing a positive energetic environment in which it can come about. This video was sent in anonymously but we are so grateful that someone has taken the time to spend just a few seconds to help create this energetic environment for peace.

If you would also like to send Reiki for Peace as a part of the 12seconds for Peace initiative, you can do so by using the video box at the top of this page. Just sit and send Reiki into the webcam! If you practice Reiki, you know the drill.

12seconds for Peace - Widyan Shaat

12seconds for Peace has just received this truly heartfelt and moving video from Widyan Shaat in Palestine. It is hard not to have one's heart strings pulled at Widyan's desire for peace in the world, as so wonderfully expressed in this video.

Widyan came to 12seconds for Peace via Facebook and following a number of conversations with her and her friends and associates in Palestine, decided to contribute to this project to let the world know of their desire for peace; for themselves, for their neighbours, for all people in the world.

I am sure that we shall see more of Widyan and her friends in the coming weeks and months.
